May 21, 2015 (newstodate): Air France is pulling out from its route from Paris CDG to Stavanger Sola Airport in Norway.
The last flight will be on October 25, 2015, ending a service introduced on March 31, 2014, with Air France's subsidiary HOP offering two daily rotations with Embraer 170 aircraft.
A key driver behind the route has been the Norwegian and international oil and gas industries that have, however, seen a marked decline in the current world situation, resulting in less demand for air travel.
Avinor is still proceeding with plans for an expansion of the airport's passenger area by 5,000 sq m under a project to be commissioned by 2018, with the first phase to be opened by summer 2016.
With the new facilities the airport will have the capacity to handling of sic mio passengers annually.
