Apr 07, 32015 (newstodate): For the seventh consecutive year, Ukrainean Air Force IL-76 freighters and some 30 Ukrainian military staff are engaged in the Northern Falcon 2015 operation to the northern-most part of Greenland.
This year, the aircraft will bring a total of 600,000 liters of fuel as well as provisions via Thule Air Base to Station North, 900 km from the NOrth Pole, with the Danish AFB at Aalborg as the base for the operation.
AFB Aalborg is also the location for the Danish Ministry of Defence's Logistics Center Greenland.
The Ukrainean aircraft will be performing some 60 flights comprising more than 100 flight hours in the demanding arctic environment.
Denmark's Station North is an important base in Greenland, permanently manned by meteorologists and used by the Danish Army's patrols manifesting Denmark's suzerainty in the region.
