Apr 27, 2015 (newstodate): The search for a new CEO to lead the Faroese carrier Atlantic Airways is on - but there is no haste..
The current head of the carrier, Jorgen Holme was installed as interim CEO on November 18, 2013, in a surprising move by the Board that abruptly sacked the CEO since 1995, Magni Arge.
In June 2014, Mr Holme presented Atlantic Airways' new strategy building on three axis: Denmark, NORD, and SOL - the trunk routes between the Faroe Islands and Denmark, NORD with frequent connections between the Faroe Islands, Norway, Iceland and the UK, and SOL comprising seasonal flights from the Faroe Islands to leisure destinations Barcelona and Mallorca. Also, the public gets opportunity to vote for favorite destinations that is operated a few times.
-With the approval by the Board of the new strategy and well on track with its implementation, we have now reached the point where my original obligations have been met, and the board of Atlantic Airways has therefore started the process for finding the new CEO to lead the carrier forward, says Jorgen Holme.
-We can also see that the carrier is on the right track, with positive results in 2014 and good prospects for sustained growth in traffic and passenger volumes in 2015.
-The date for my departure will be taken at a later stage when more is known about the selected candidate, says Mr Holme.
