Apr 24, 2015 (newstodate): Russia's Volga-Dnepr Group is mulling plans for selling Atran Airlines, according to Russian sources.
In 2011, Volga-Dnepr acquired Atran to develop its local and regional air cargo network connecting to its freighter services by the Group's other freighter carriers ABC and Volga-Dnepr.
Besides, Atran has also succeeded in landing six-year contracts with UPS and TNT in the European and Russian express cargo markets.
In the fleet of Atran are now three Boeing 737-400SF freighters while the carrier's AN-12 freighters were sold by the end of 2014.
Volga-Dnepr's acquisition of Atran has, however, failed to contribute positively to Group results, leading to plans for a sale.
Since January 9, 2014, Atran has been operating freighter flights between Sweden's Malmo Airport and Moscow, feeding cargo into and from ABC's network.
