Apr 08, 2015 (newstodate): Qatar Airways' freighter operation between Norway's Stavanger Airport and Doha has been temporarily suspended during the summer schedule.
According to a centrally-placed industry source, the decision has been made in response to the current downturn in the oil and gas industries that have, together with Norway's seafood exports, been the driving force behind the weekly service operated from November 3, 2014, with an Airbus A330-200F aircraft coming in from Brussels on its return flight to Doha.
No decision has, however, been made not to reinstate the Stavanger-service again from winter 2015/16 if warranted by a re-bounce in the oil and gas sector's demand for uplift.
Instead, Qatar Airways has now moved the weekly freighter service to Oslo Airport during the current season to meet the insatiable demand for uplift of Norway's seafood exports to Asian and Middle East markets.
