Apr 07, 2015 (newstodate): Export is still the driving factor behind growth in cargo volumes at Denmark's Billund Airport.
In March 2015 the airport handled a total of 5,678 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 2.7 percent, y-o-y.
Sustained growth was seen in the export volumes that grew by 13.6 percent, y-o-y, to 3,698 tonnes, while import airfreight still dropped 13 percent to 1,980 tonnes.
In Q1, 2015, the airport has thus seen total volumes up by 10.3 percent, y-o-y, to 15,986 tonnes, including 10,459 tonnes of exports, up 16.7 percent, while imports were up only 1.3 percent to 5,529 tonnes.
Since January 12, 2015, the airport is again served five times weekly by DHL Express with Boeing 757-200F aircraft providing both import and export services.
