Apr 13, 2015 (newstodate): The Danish carrier Primera Air has now added the fourth Boeing 737-800 aircraft to the fleet of its Latvian subsidiary, Primera Air Nordic.
The Baltic carrier is based as Riga Airport and took delivery of the latest aircraft on Latvian registry on April 8, 2015.
Seeking new European charter business benefiting from Latvia's competitive cost base, Primera Air Nordic launched services by October 10, 2014, after taking over its first aircraft only few days earlier.
Primera Air Nordic is thus competing against carriers including Latvia's SmartLynx that is also operating in Estonia, and Small Planet Airlines and Grand Cru Airlines in Lithuania.
Not surprisingly, the European Cockpit Association has accused Primera Air of "social dumping" by transferring capacity to a base outside Scandinavia to benefit from lower operational costs.
