Apr 28, 2015 (newstodate): Azerbaijan's oil and gas industries are thriving, and this calls for more cargo capacity on flights to and from Europe and Asia.
In response, Panalpina has now added a second weekly freighter service at Azerbaijan's capital airport, Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
So far, Panalpina has offered a midweek scheduled charter from Luxembourg to Shanghai via Baku and back, but the company has now introduced a second rotation on the weekend, as well.
All flights are operated by the Azer cargo carrier Silk Way West Airlines' Boeing 747-8F.
Most of the cargo that is offloaded in Baku is for Panalpina's international oil and gas customers, but volumes of technology goods, as well as pharmaceuticals, are growing as well.
