Apr 21, 2015 (newstodate: Plans are moving ahead for construction of a new multi-modal cargo complex in Russia's St Petersburg region.
Located at Ust-Luga, the complex will comprise the existing cargo harbor, a new industrial zone and a customs-free area as well as a new cargo airport.
Plans for the construction of the new airport calls for commissioning already by 2010, provided all financial issues are solved including attracting investors to support the project.
While St Petersburg's government will not participate in financing of passenger airports, cargo airports are excluded from this and can receive public investment.
