Apr 30, 2015 (newstodate): Plans are advancing in Macedonia for establishing a new national carrier.
The country's former national carrier MAT Macedonian Airlines went bust folded its wings in 2009, and several later attempts including La Luna Airlines, a JV between Croatia's Dubrovnik Airline and Macedonian investors, and Airlift Service all failed.
Now an external consultant has been hired to work out a report and identify potential foreign partner with an interest in setting up a new airline to serve the country.
Macedonia finds it difficult to develop its air services as foreign airlines will need bilateral air services agreements which will require the existence of a national carrier in Macedonia.
The consultant's report is expected by August 2015, after which efforts will be made to approach the international airline industry.
