Apr 17, 2015 (newstodate): Iceland is seeing more and more international traffic by foreign carriers.
Among newcomers to Keflavik Airport from this summer will be Wizz Air starting flights with Airbus A320 aircraft from Gdansk in Poland to Keflavik with two weekly flights from June 19, 2015.
It will, however, not be Wizz Air's first visit to Iceland.
In 2006, Bechtel, the main contractor for building the Alcoa aluminum smelter at Reydarfjordur, Iceland, contracted Wizz Air to provide staff flights from and to Poland.
During the following five years, the Hungarian lcc operated a weekend flight on the route Akureyri-Katowice, using A320 aircraft.
