Apr 23, 2015 (newstodate): Georgia is keen to develop its tourism industry by attracting more air traffic from the West.
The country's ministry of economy is thus engaged in talks with several airlines including low-cost carriers like Ryanair, easyJet as well as Air Berlin to attract them to the idea of flying into Georgia.
Among the first LCC airlines to launch flights to Georgia was the Hungarian LCC Wizz Air that launched flights between Vilnius and Kutaisi, in Georgia, from March 31, 2014, with two weekly rotations on the route.
Wizz Air also started flights from October 29, 2012, on the route between Kiev and Kutaisi.
The first hybrid carrier to enter the Georgian market was however Latvia's airBaltic that opened scheduled flights between Riga and Tbilisi from May 3, 2006.
