Apr 15, 2015 (newstodate): Finnair is keen not to bind its capital in fixed assets, including aircraft.
The carrier is amid a process to put all its existing aircraft on sale-lease back contracts in order to free capital, and this process is also to extend to the acquisition of the new long-haul fleet.
The airline is thus closing a sale-lease back deal with GECAS comprising the first two Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft slated for delivery later this year.
Finnair has 19 A350 aircraft on order, and expects to receive the first four by the end of this year.
Another seven will be delivered in 2016 and 2017, with the remaining eight to be delivered between 2018 and 2023.
