Apr 09, 2015 (newstodate): India has regained its Category I rating in the FAA Flight Standards Service.
After several irregularities in the performance of India's airlines and airports, the US FAA downgraded the country one year ago, barring Indian carriers Air India and Jet Airways from establishing new routes between India and the USA and putting increased requirements on Indian carriers' existing routes.
The downgrading was especially harmful to Jet Airways that became partner with Etihad aiming at setting up new routes, including new flights to the USA.
With the upgrading, all restrictions are now again lifted.
