Apr 21, 2015 (newstodate): In most cases, the drive for implementation of e-freight, notably the e-AWB, is spurred by a national carrier in its home market.
Not so in Thailand where Thai Cargo remains sitting on the fence without a declared policy on these issues and no action plan for implementation.
In the meantime, the Thai air cargo industry is eagerly looking at lost opportunities while still making efforts to bypass the passivity of Thai Cargo.
Earlier this month, Bangkok Flight Services and Worldwide Information Network called to a workshop for the airfreight industry with participants from airlines and independent and multinational members of local forwarders' associations
-Already since this session we have seen a major Thai forwarder sign up and actually begin e-AWB shipments, and I have also had renewed interest from two major European airlines. This is all good news and I look forward to seeing more and more e-AWB shipments moving through our cargo terminal, says David Ambridge, General Manager of Bangkok Flight Services, the largest handler at Bangkok airport and a JV between Worldwide Flight Services and Bangkok Airways.
