Apr 15, 2015 (newstodate): Airbus is keen to keep its Airbus A380 program alive, but the company has soon delivered 50 percent of all orders booked.
As of the end of January 2015, Airbus had thus delivered 153 of a total of 317 on firm orders, with Emirates operating 58 of the 140 aircraft so far ordered.
Airbus expects to reach the break-even point by the end of this year, but no fresh orders have been booked for almost three years.
Emirates has declared its readiness to place a fresh bulk order for the A380, provided Airbus comes up with a more fuel-efficient and re-engined "neo-version" which is still an issue pending.
New operator to introduce the Airbus A380 in 2015 will be Russia's Transaero Airlines that has placed an order for four units.
