Mar 06, 2015 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Airways is now to place its two converted Boeing 767-300 freighters in traffic.
The first freighter was delivered in November and performed its first commercial flight from Urumqi, in China's Xinjiang province, to Tashkent on December 25, 2014.
The second aircraft has also now been delivered after conversion by ST Aerospace Services Co and is ready to enter service after a C-check and new painting in Tashkent.
Starting from March 29, 2015, Uzbekistan Airways will introduce new regular cargo flights from Navoi airport to Amsterdam, Shanghai and Mumbai.
The two freighters will thus be serving flights to seven international destinations with 15 weekly rotations from Navoi to Delhi and Dubai, three weekly rotations to Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Shanghai, two rotations to Mumbai, and one weekly rotation to Tianjin.
The two Boeing 767-300 converted freighters will replace the two Airbus A330-600F aircraft, leased from Korean Air Cargo and operated since April, 2009, on flights to Europe and South East Asia, using Navoi Airport as an air cargo hub between the two regions.
In 2008,Uzbekistan Airways and the Hanjin Group, parent company of Korean Air, signed an agreement to develop Uzbekistan's logistics infrastructure including the building of a new joint logistics hub at Navoi, Uzbekistan.
