Mar 02, 2015 (newstodate): Airfreight volumes took an unexpectedly steep upward jump in February at Denmark's Billund Airport.
Total volumes handled thus increased by 22.8 percent, y-o-y, to 4,992 tonnes, a significant growth in both imports and exports.
Import volumes that have been decreasing in a sustained period were up 29.5 percent, y-o-y, to 1,805 tonnes, while export volumes were also up by 19.3 percent to 3,187 tonnes.
In the first two months of this year, the airport handled 10,308 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 11.5 percent, y-o-y, including 3,549 tonnes of imports, up 11.5 percent, and 6,750 tonnes of exports, up 16.9 percent.
Contributing to the positive development in volumes at Billund Airport is the return of a dedicated DHL Boeing 757-200F freighter on the route between Leipzig and Billund from Monday, January 12, 2015, with five weekly rotations.
