MAr 11, 2015 (newstodate): Business aviation is hit by the current crisis over Russia and Ukraine, according to the German business aviation consultant WingX Advance.
In February 2015, business aviation was down 4.4 percent, y-o-y, not as bad as January, but the lowest activity level for the month of February since 2010, and some 20 percent fewer flights than in February 2008.
The direct effect of the Ukraine crisis is largely responsible, with that country and Russia combining to lose 1,400 flights, y-o-y. It appears Germany is indirectly affected, as its activity fell by over 750 flights in February.
Russia is no longer among the top-10 Europeans market in terms of activity, and flights from Russia to Europe fell 34 percent in February.
Business aviation in Eastern Europe is also disrupted, seeing its market activity down 22 percent, y-o-y, in February 2015, WingX Advance says.
