Mar 24, 2015 (newstodate): The Russian aviation industry is hard hit by the current freeze in relations with most of the western world and the economic sanctions imposed by EU and USA.
In the first two months of this year, the total passenger volumes were down 1.3 percent, y-o-y, notably on international flights where volumes were down 14.5 percent, while passenger volumes on domestic flights actually increased by 12.4 percent, y-o-y.
Another sign of the plights by Russian carriers is the fact that 71 international routes from Russia are now without service as designated airlines refuse to carry out flights little in demand by the market.
