Mar 06, 2015 (newstodate): Greenland Express sticks to its decision to launch flights between Denmark and Greenland from May 11, 2015.
As earlier reported by newstodate, the start-up carrier has, however, decided to base its flights at Billund Airport, replacing Aalborg Airport that served as its base during its earlier attempts to set up scheduled flights in 2014.
-Compared to Aalborg Airport, Billund has much more international air traffic that will provide options for Greenland Express passengers to connect to European destinations, says Gert Brask, Greenland Express CEO and founder.
-Billund Airport is also favorably positioned against the North German market which will further boost our catchment area.
-And what is equally important: we are seeing a much more positive and enthusiastic attitude towards Greenland Express from the business circles in this region. We have been met with a most promising response from these business companies than experienced at our former base, and the support from the regional business environment is of course crucial to our project.
-We have announced May 11, 2015, as the launch date of services and an ACMI contract with our selected operator of the Airbus A320 aircraft has long been settled, says Mr Brask.
