Mar 23, 2015 (newstodate): The solar eclipse on March 20, 2015, cast fresh light on the Faero Islands' Vagar Airport's position on the aviation map.
-The event drew massive focus on the Faero Islands and generated record-high levels of activity at the airport, says Jakup Sverre Kass, Vagar Airport CEO.
-The Danish carrier DAT brought in an MD-83, the largest aircraft so far at the airport, and Atlantic Airways' A319 fleet were operating almost continuously from a wide range of destinations.
-Besides we handled a wide variety of corporate, private and taxi aircraft including four Falcon 2000, Embraer 560, Challenger C80, Challenger 295, Boeing 737-300, two Piper, two Cessna, two Zirrus and one Toboco aircraft.
-The current tally of passengers indicate that the event attracted some 4,000 passengers, but the final count will be available only after the end of the month, says Mr Kass.
