Mar 10, 2015 (newstodate): Vehement rumors in Norway's aviation industry claim that Star Alliance-member Ethiopian Airlines is indeed still planning for flights from Addis Abeba to Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
An announcement was expected by the start of this summer schedule, but expectations are that it may follow by autumn 2015.
Calling on Ethiopian Airlines' HQs by newstodate has not produced any comment beyond "when a decision might be made, we will inform the press".
The carrier may start out with connecting Oslo in Norway to its route since October 28, 2003, between Addis Abeba in Ethiopia and Stockholm in Sweden.
Until 2003, the carrier was operating its Scandinavian service into Copenhagen Airport, in Denmark, but switched to Sweden as this market comprises larger potentials for ethnic traffic.
Starting from October 26, 2014, the carrier has been operating four weekly flights on the route from Addis Abeba to Stockholm via Vienna, using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on all flights and occasionally shifting to Boeing 787 services as is the case in March 2015.
