Mar 23, 2015 (newstodate): Low demand in the market is now causing also Cathay Pacific to suspend services to Russia.
From June, 1, 2015, the carrier will no longer offer flights between Hong Kong and Moscow, currently served with three weekly rotations.
The carrier cites high operating costs and low demand in the market as reasons to pull out, leaving, however, an own office om Moscow.
Cathay Pacific started flights to Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport on July 13, 2010, with Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
The route was first announced in December, 2005, and was slated to start by the introduction of the summer schedule, effective March 27, 2006, but Russian red-tape efforts caused the plan to collapse.
