Feb 20, 2015 (newstodate): The latest new commercial aircraft type to enter service, the Airbus A350 XWB is gaining momentum at the Airbus final assembly line.
Qatar Airways was first to take delivery of the new aircraft that performed its first commercial flight on January 15, 2015, and delivery of the second aircraft for Qatar is slated for February 27, 2015.
Qatar Airways is also so far the largest customer for the aircraft, with orders for a total of 80 deliveries.
Vietnam Airlines is scheduled to receive its first Airbus A350 aircraft on June 24, 2015, and the second aircraft for Finnair is now also on the final assembly line, with the first aircraft slated for entry into service at Helsinki by September 2015 painted in oneworld-livery as the first aircraft.
Other airlines to take in their first Airbus A350 XWB in 2015 are Singapore Airlines and TAM Airlines.
So far Airbus has recorded a total of 780 firm orders for various versions of Airbus A350 XWB plus options for another 288 aircraft.
