Feb 16, 2015 (newstodate): Russia's Federeal Aviation Authority is firing back at LCC Norwegian that complains of Russia's ban on its overflights on routes between Scandinavia and Bangkok, Thailand.
Norwegian has thus taken the issue to the Norwegian state appealing for reciprocal action to be taken against Russian aircraft flying over Norway on routes to North America.
Speaking to Russian media, a spokesperson for Russia's Federal Aviation Authority claims that Norwegian has repeatedly failed to adhere to the rules for filing written requests for flights through Russia's airspace.
-Norwegian does not itself have any rights for operating between Scandinavia and Thailand through Russian airspace, he said.
In the meantime, Norwegian is forced to add almost an hour's flying time to the route in order to avoid flying through Russian airspace.
