Feb 22, 2015 (newstodate): With a sixth converted Boeing 737 freighter joining the fleet by the end of this month, Iceland's ACMI carrier Bluebird Cargo is bolstering its all-Boeing fleet.
-Our plan is certainly to stick to the Boeing 737 freighter segment, says Steinn Logi Bjonsson, Bluebird Cargo Chairman of the Board.
-We might consider adding larger freighter aircraft to our fleet at some point in time, but that would be on the condition of a firm contract with a customer. We would not go beyond the Boeing 737 segment speculatively.
-After all, the Boeing 737, especially the Boeing 737-400 converted freighter is becoming even more cost-efficient as capital costs are rather low while fuel prices are at comparatively low levels. As of now and for the immediate future, the converted Boeing 737 is our prime choice, says Mr Bjornsson.
Bluebird Cargo operates for integrators TNT and UPS.
