Feb 26, 2015 (newstodate): The ownership structure of Russia's Vladivostok International Airport is to change, with Singapore capital coming in.
A consortium comprising Basic Element, one of Russia's diversified industrial groups, Russian Direct Investment Fund and Singapore's Changi Airports International has been announced as the winner of the tender to acquire shares in Vladivostok International Airport.
The consortium's bid was recognized as the best based on the strength of its technical, legal and financial components.
Each member will hold an equal share in the consortium, with the transaction to be closed pending regulatory approvals.
In 2012, Vladivostok International Airport underwent large-scale modernization and construction of a new terminal and is now capable of handling all types of aircraft.
In 2008, the Russian state passed its 52.16 percent ownership stake to Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport that has until now controlled Vladivostok Airport and secured its modernization process.
Due to its geographical location the crossing of two air routes between the Russian Far East and the Asia Pacific region, Vladivostok International Airport is strategically important for the development of the air transportation system in the region.
