Feb 02, 2015 (newstodate): Greenland's coming new carrier, Aluu Airlines is still waiting for its AOC from the Danish Transport Authority, Trafikstyrelsen.
-We handed in our application in December 2014 and are eagerly awaiting the completion of the process to go forward in our plans, says Kuno Fencker, Aluu Airlines CEO.
-Until the AOC is in place we cannot conclude contracts for lease of our future aircraft, but we have worked out several scenarios to secure that we will be able to act immediately when conditions are ripe.
-Our plans include lease of Airbus A321-200 aircraft for the Transatlantic flights, while we keep options open for the final decision on the aircraft type to provide feeder flights in Greenland connecting to the Transatlantic flights at Kangerlussuaq. It may be ATR aircraft, but other alternatives exist. We will need one or two aircraft from the start, and again, we are in talks with several parties to grant us the flexibility we need.
-From the start, we are in close dialog with both public and official sectors in Greenland and have met with only positive response to our plans, says Mr Fencker.
Plans are to launch services from June 1, 2015.
