Feb 17, 2015 (newstodate): Civil aviation in Bosnia is in dire straits.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina carrier B&H Airlines is expected to announce a full stop to all flights from tomorrow after having failed to obtain fresh funding from the state.
The situation comes to critical stage as Eurocontrol will prohibit the carrier to fly after having amassed a debts pile for unpaid airnav charges.
Besides, Zurich Airport has also demanded that B&H Airlines pay its outstanding debts if not to lose rights to operate at the airport, and the airline has also not been able to pay its aircraft leasing company.
The only other destinations currently served by the carrier are Belgrade and Copenhagen, and these flights will thus come to a stand-still after tomorrow, February 18, 2015.
Another projected airline project, the virtual airline Bosnian Wand Airlines has also been forced down before getting really airborne as it failed to provide sufficient information on its relations to the carrier Hermes Airlines that was to operate its flights.
Bosnia and Herzegovina's Directorate of Civil Aviation has forced Bosnian Wand to suspend all dreams of flying as Hermes Airlines would in effect have gained Bosnian traffic rights through the cooperation.
For a start, Bosnian Wand Airlines has been operating charter flights between Sweden, Greece and the Middle East, while its planned scheduled flights have now been called off.
