Feb 16, 2015 (newstodate): Montenegro is hoping to see EBRD stepping in with a significant loan to finance the construction of a new second passenger terminal at Tivat Airport.
So far, Montenegro and EBRD have signed an MoU with Airports of Montenegro, allowing the bank to assess the terminal project before approving necessary funds.
The project comprises the construction of a new terminal building, runways, apron and a parking area.
As a first move, a tender will be opened shortly calling for an airport consultant to oversee the process.
In October 2014, the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency announced plans for the construction of a new control tower at Tivat Airport, and the new facility is expected to be commissioned in early 2016.
In 2014, Tivat Airport with one 2,500m runway handled 910,566 passengers, an increase by 4,95 percent, y-o-y.
