Feb 25, 2015 (newstodate): Russia's bid for a mid-range commercial aircraft, the Superjet 100, is making steady headway in the Americas.
The Board of Interjet, Mexico's second-largest carrier, has now taken the decision to place a follow-up order for a further 10 Superjet aircraft.
Today, the carrier's fleet already comprises 12 out of 20 ordered Superjet 100 aircraft, with the remaining eight to be delivered by July 2015.
In January 2011, Interjet signed a contract for the purchase of 10 Superjet 100 aircraft plus options for another five, and activated the five options in May 2012, bringing the firm order to 20.
In another part of the world, the new Nepalese airline Bishwo Airways has announced a tentative agreement with Sukhoi for five Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft to be delivered from 2017.
