Feb 16, 2015 (newstodate): The Latvian state will at some point in time sell its 100 percent ownership of the carrier airBaltic - but there is no haste...
-There are still a few court issues with EU pending, while the state has basically been cleared of allegations of illegal financial support to airBaltic in earlier years, says Martin Gauss, airBaltic CEO & President.
-Negotiations concerning a potential sale of airBaltic of course belong with the state and the Board, but the state will at some point be interested in a sale to a strategic partner after which the basic role of airBaltic would probably be to support a partner's hub by feeding traffic between the hub and regional markets.
-But I do not think a move is imminent. Maybe the pressure is not high in the curent situation where airBaltic has returned to profits in 2014 and is in fine shape.
-We are actually now in a position to operate profitably on our own, says Mr Gauss.
