Feb 22, 2015 (newstodate): The Icelandic LCC WOW Air has now secured the aircraft for launch of its long-awaited US flights from this year.
The carrier has leased to Airbus A321 aircraft originally to be delivered to the Russian carrier UTAir that has, however, called off its deal due to the steep decline in Russia's demand for air transport.
Both aircraft were on leasing contracts with VEB-Leasing.
The two new aircraft will be delivered in February and March 2015, in time for the launch of flights from Iceland to Boston from March 27, 2015, and to Baltimore from June 4, 2015, connecting to its European network.
