Feb 25, 2015 (newstodate): The delivery date for Finnair's first Airbus A350 XWB has now been fixed: September 15, 2015.
The aircraft, MSN018, is now at Station 30 in the final assembly line for installation of belly fairing, landing gear doors and wing leading edge.
After delivery at Helsinki, Finnair will become the first European airline to introduce the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft in long-haul traffic starting from October 2015.
From the start, Finnair will allocate the new aircraft to flights on the routes from Helsinki to Asian destinations Shanghai, Bangkok and Beijing, with Hong Kong and Singapore to be added in 2016.
Finnair has placed 11 firm orders and also holds eight options for A350 aircraft, which will form the backbone of the companys long-haul fleet and drive future expansion plans.
