Feb 09, 2015 (newstodate): Measured in cargo volumes, January wasn't a good start to 2015 for Finnair Cargo.
The company carried a total of 9,346 tonnes of cargo, a decline by 17.1 percent, y-o-y.
In was not, however, that bad. The decline was caused primarily by the shortfall of cargo in freighter traffic that was stopped by the turn of the year.
Cargo on the company's passenger flights was thus down only 0.5 percent, y-o-y, to 8,166 tonnes, while cargo on Japan Air Lines' flights between Helsinki and Japan added another 1,180 tonnes.
Cargo on the European traffic did drop by 9.7 percent to 1,569 tonnes, while cargo on N American and Asian routes increased by 3.6 and 2.3 percent, respectively.
Load factors were, however, not too positive; N AM was down 23 percentage-points, and on the Asian lanes also down by 9.7 percentage-points in January, to 34.5 and 48.2, respectively.
