Feb 20, 2015 (newstodate): February 2015 will not be a feast for most forwarders and GSAs..
-We have now entered the Chinese New Year holiday period that always marks a quiet period in the Asian airfreight business, says a Danish freighter forwarder.
-While the Chinese New Year is in the calendar, February 2015 will, however, also be heavily marked by the extreme weather conditions reigning in North America's central and eastern parts.
-It has become extremely difficult to get airfreight in and out of the major cargo hubs, and in any case only with unforeseeable delays and snags while short-shipped cargo volumes are piling up.
-There is of course nothing we can do about this except putting great efforts into keeing our customers well informed and otherwise keeping daily routines open. But this period will certainly leave a mark in the statistics and sales records, he says.
