Feb 18, 2015 (newstodate): Plans for opening of flights between the Balkan region and China are now materializing.
Starting from May 1, 2015, already, a new route connecting Chongqing and Zadar, in Croatia, will be opened with Hainan Airlines as the operator offering one weekly rotation on an year-round basis.
The Chinese authorities have issued approval of the new route that will be operated with a yet-undisclosed aircraft type.
Hainan Airlines - the largest privately-owned airline and the fourth largest airline in terms of fleet size in China - has, however, further plans for Zadar that may be added as an en-route stop on the carrier's coming new route from April 27, 2015, to Rome offering twice-weekly rotations.
Since the Balkan wars in the 90'ies, there has been no direct flight connection between China and the region.
