Feb 12, 2015 (newstodate): While the tender process for the coming years' postal flights in Norway has been completed, the similar process in Sweden has run into delays.
Post Sweden launched a tender for postal flights in November 2014, with the process to be completed within a month - but the tender was called off and a new one opened only yesterday, February 11, 2015, with the bidding process to run for another 30 days.
-Participants in the earlier tender missed to provide essential information on a range of issues, indicating that our tender material was admittedly lacking in clarity on some points, says Tomas Granmar, Post Sweden project coordinator.
-To secure a level playing ground for all participants we decided to cancel the tender and prepare for a new process based on new tender materials. Anyhow, this will not have any impact on the sustained smooth running of the postal flights in Sweden, says Mr Granmar.
The tender will comprise about 180 departures every week, requiring 14 aircraft to serve 12 airports and with provisions for bidders to sub-contract parts of the total network to other parties to secure the optimal match between specific airports and aircraft types.
Post Sweden operated its own carrier, Falcon Air until 2006 when the flights were taken over by Amapola that has held the lead contract for postal flights since then.
