Feb 121, 2015 (newstodate): Bombardier has now suspended the start of assembling the Q400 aircraft in Russia.
After talks since 2007, Bombardier signed a JV In January 2014 with Russia's Rostech to set up a Q400 assembly line in the Ulyanovsk special economic zone to provide the aircraft to Russian and CIS operators.
Bombardier has earlier estimated the sale potentials of the Q400 to be around 50 of these aircraft in Russia's turboprop market.
Behind the decision is clearly the current economic freeze on trade between Russia and Western countries as well as the worsening financial situation of the Russian carrier that would be the customers for the new aircraft.
