Feb 02, 2015 (newstodate): Beware of rumors that are not confirmed by the parties involved. Except, maybe, for stories carried by Reuters, albeit unconfirmed as well.
It has long been circulating the Turkish Airlines may emerge as a new customer with Airbus for the A380 - and now Reuters is also carrying this story to the market.
According to Reuters, Turkish Airlines and Airbus may be negotiating an order for "10 or more" Airbus A380 which would be the first order for this aircraft since 2013 - and very much needed by Airbus to keep the project alive.
Emirates, the single overwhelmingly-largest customer for the aircraft, has so far signed up for 155 aircraft, 55 of which have been delivered, but this carrier has reportedly requested Airbus to develop an upgraded version of the aircraft with better fuel efficiency as a precondition for taking in even more A380 aircraft.
If the rumor about Turkish Airlines holds true, this might also be an order for an upgraded version of the aircraft - with more orders for Emirates forthcoming..
