Feb 09, 2015 (newstodate): Despite the turbulence in Russia's relations, including trade relations, with the world in 2014, the country's carriers still managed to grow the volume of cargo carrier in 2014 by 6.5 percent, y-o-y, to 1,017,646 tonnes.
The top-5 cargo carriers also grew their joint share in the country's air cargo industry by 9.8 percent, to 808,465 tonnes corresponding to 78 percent of the country's total on Russian aircraft.
The top-5 in Russia's cargo business were AirBridgeCargo with 516,525 tonnes of freight and mail, up 21.1 percent, y-o-y, followed by Aeroflot with 145,285 tonnes, down 17.7 percent, Transaero with 69,333 tonnes and down 0.6 percent, Volga-Dnepr with 40,656 tonnes and down 24.5 percent, and finally S7 with 36,667 tonnes and up 0.4 percent, y-o-y.
Again, Atran, part of the Volga-Dnepr Group, was the fastest-growing Russian carrier in 2014, with an increase by 166 percent, y-o-y, to 12,259 tonnes.
