Dec 03, 2015 (newstodate): While Airbus is struggling to keep its Airbus A350 deliveries running to meet the target - 15 aircraft - set for 2015, customers are eagerly waiting for their fleets to build up.
One such carrier is Finnair that is still operating only one A350 while earlier plans called for delivery of four aircraft in 2015, with another seven being delivered in 2016 and 2017 and the remaining eight between 2018 and 2023.
This delivery scheme was again revised in November 2015 as the carrier confirmed that it expects to have five Airbus A350 aircraft in the fleet by Q2, 2016.
This may well hold as three more Airbus A350 aircraft deliveries are now planned before the close of 2015, and one more is expected by January 2016.
On the other hand, Finnair has obviously stepped back on its earlier decision, announced in May 2012, to take aircraft with serial number 30 and upwards only, to avoid suffering from the expected teething troubles with the new aircraft.
The first A350 now in service with Finnair thus carries manufacturing serial number 18.
On December 2, 2015, Vietnam airlines took delivery of its fourth Airbus A350 - the 12th delivered in 2015.
