Dec 04, 2015 (newstodate): Russia's new commercial airliner the Superjet 100 is coming of age, but sales are still modest on a world scale.
By the end of October 2015 the 100th example of the aircraft left the assembly line, and by end of November a total of 61 Superjet 100 aircraft are in commercial service with airlines including Aeroflot, Gazprom Avia, Yakutia, Red Wings, the Russian Interior Ministry and the Mexican carrier Interjet that now has 18 aircraft in service.
On October 8, 2015, CityJet placed an order for 15 aircraft, with options for another 10, as one of the only Western airlines to do so.
Negotiations with the new carrier yet to be launched, Greenland Express are still being conducted and await the eventual conclusion of financing issues leading to a leasing contract comprising a total of five aircraft with deliveries to start in 2016.
