Dec 17, 2015 (newstodate): Ryanair has set its eyes on stepping up competition with Wizz Air in the Romanian market.
The carrier plans to open up five new bases in Romania in the coming years, while operating flights today into only one Romanian destination, Bucharest, opened up by the carrier in 2008.
Wizz Air is already operating flights from Bucharest since June 2007, from Cluj from May 2008, from Timisoara since March 2009, from Tirgu Mures Airport since March 2011, and from Craiova starting from July 2014.
In addition to fighting with Wizz Air, Ryanair will also meet competition in the Romanian market from the national carrier Tarom as well as from the Romanian LCC Blue Air.
