Dec 22, 2015 (newstodate): The cautious opening of Iran as a trading partner after years of sanctions raises hopes in the world's aviation industries for substantial commercial aircraft sales.
Besides Airbus and Boeing, Russian aircraft manufacturers are also eyeing fresh prospects for Iranian orders.
According to a Russian minister, Russia is thus in talks with the Iranian airline Kish Air over the possible delivery of 10 to 15 medium-range Tu-204SM aircraft, that have earlier been the subject of talks between the countries for assembly in Iran.
The Iranian carriers Taban Air and Zagros Airlines have also reportedly been interested in considering the Superjet 100 for their future fleet modernization.
Not surprisingly, the Russian minister points out that the country is prepared to deliver up to 100 Superjet 100 aircraft to Iranian operators over the next five years, which would however require a substantial ramp-up of the capacity of the Russian manufacturers.
