Dec 18, 2015 (newstodate): Now it's official: Emirates will introduce its Airbus A380 aircraft on the route between Dubai and Prague, the Czech Republic.
Starting from May 1, 2016, Emirates will replace its Boeing 777-300 on the route with the A380 aircraft on daily flights on the route.
Prague Airport is fully capable of handling this aircraft type, having already obtained certification to handling of Category F aircraft, and the airport has also opened a new gate with space for accommodating the A380 passenger loads and three boarding bridges.
Emirates launched flights from Dubai to Prague from July 1, 2010, using Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route.
In contrast to the two-class A380 service now operating at Copenhagen Airport, Emirates will operate the A380 into Prague in a 3-class configuration.
In addition to Prague, the carrier will also introduce the A380 on routes to Birmingham and Taipei in 2016 - and Barcelona will be served with a second daily Emirates A380 service from June 1, 2016.
