Dec 14, 2015 (newstodate): Qatar Airlines claims to become the first carrier to introduce the Airbus A350 on flights to USA - but a Nordic carrier is following close on its heels.
Qatar Airlines will indeed operate the Airbus A350 on daily flights to Philadelphia from January 1, 2016.
And with more A350 joining its fleet, Qatar Airways will add it on flights to Boston as well, starting from March 16.
However, Finnair will be trailing closely behind as the carrier plans to operate its Airbus A350 aircraft on the route between Helsinki and New York JFK during the period January 12-20, 2016, replacing the Airbus A330-300 currently used.
Finnair received its first Airbus A350 from Airbus on October 7, 2015, and the aircraft entered into long-haul commercial service from November 21, 2015, on the route between Helsinki and Shanghai.
The carrier is now close to receiving its 2nd aircraft that stands ready for delivery after having completed its four test flights including one performed by the carrier's own cockpit crew, and a third A350 for Finnair has performed two test flights pending delivery before the end of this year as well.
