Dec 08, 2015 (newstodate): Plans for construction of a new airport in Sweden's northern region are taking shape.
-We are currently in the project phase supported by various consultants and still some way to go before freezing details, says Brett Weihart, Scandinavian Mountains Airport managing director with solid experience from years with Swedavia.
-Some details have been settled, though, including the classification of the coming airport as 4E, with a 2,500x45m runway oriented 15/33 and certified in accordance with CAT ILS I/II, capable of handling flights by aircraft up to the size of Boeing 737/Airbus A320.
-After a tender selecting the future partners, the start of construction has been slated for June 2016, with commissioning by December 2017, says Mr Weihart.
The project is budgeted at one bio Swedish Kroner.
