Dec 21, 2015 (newstodate): The Irish regional carrier CityJet has placed a firm order for six more Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft.
With this, the carrier will grow its fleet of Superjet 100 aircraft to 15, with more options still in the books.
In October 2015, CityJet announced a firm order for 15 Superjet 100, and an option for another 10 in a deal formalized through an agreement with a finance company Falko, which will buy the aircraft, and then place them on a leasing agreement with CityJet.
Besides operating the aircraft on its own routes, CityJet is in talks with other carrier to place some of the fleet on ACMI contracts.
CityJet is poised to become Western Europe's first operator of the Superjet 100, but looming on the horizon is still a contract for lease of Superjet 100 aircraft with a new carrier under formation, Greenland Express that plans to take delivery of two standard version Superjet 100 aircraft in 2016, and another batch of three longer-range aircraft in 2017-18.
